# What is Kresus

Kresus is where the highest yields meet the highest safety: a self-custody wallet built on Base and Solana networks, designed to give you full control of your digital assets with ease. We bridge the gap between centralized exchanges and decentralized finance (DeFi), giving you the freedom to manage your assets without the complexities of traditional wallets.

Powered by ERC-4337, Kresus is a smart wallet that uses Account Abstraction to make your blockchain experience more flexible and customizable with custom logic. Through this approach, we can leverage Paymasters to cover for transaction fees, removing the need for users to hold native tokens to pay for gas fees.

Kresus provides hardware-level security without the hardware. While traditional cold or hardware wallets can be secure, they also come with the burden of managing keys and the risk of being lost or locked out. Kresus eliminates that risk by offering the same high level of protection, ensuring that you remain in control of your assets without the possibility of being separated from your wallet at a critical moment.

Kresus is currently mobile-only, available on both the App Store and Google Play Store.

**Fun Fact**

The name "Kresus" is inspired by King Croesus of Lydia, an ancient ruler renowned for his immense wealth. Croesus is often credited with creating the first standardized coins, essentially inventing the concept of fungible currency. # Mission

At Kresus, our mission is simple: to make on-chain finance as easy and secure as using an exchange, while showing users the wonders of truly being onchain and giving them complete control over their assets. We saw a clear gap in the market, a lack of user-friendly, self-custody wallets that offer both the simplicity and security of centralized exchanges and the power of decentralized finance.

Most wallets today are either too complicated for the average user or lack essential security features. We knew that to make crypto truly accessible, we needed a self-custody wallet that provides the same sense of security as an exchange while letting users take full control of their digital assets. Kresus is that solution, an intuitive wallet built on Base and Solana, designed for everyone from seasoned traders to newcomers entering the world of DeFi. For example, we’ve eliminated the need for a seed phrase, so you don’t have to write down random words on a piece of paper that could be lost, along with access to your assets. Instead, we offer secure recovery options like phone verification and biometrics, so your wallet is always safe and accessible.

# Kresus Domains

Everyone who signs up with Kresus gets a free Kresus Domain, your universal crypto handle. It’s your personalized identity for sending and receiving funds, replacing the need for those long, complicated wallet addresses.

During the onboarding flow, you’ll be assigned a Kresus domain based on your name. By default, the domain includes words and numbers, but you can upgrade to a premium domain through [**Unstoppable Domains**](https://get.unstoppabledomains.com/kresus-wallet/?utm_source=Twitter\&utm_medium=Partner%20Social\&utm_campaign=Paypal/Kresus%20Wallet-2023-05-08) for that extra personal touch.

You can easily check and copy your Kresus domain, along with the wallet address linked to it, by heading to the profile section, located at the top left of the homepage.

The best part? Your Kresus domain is usually tied to your name, making it simple for your friends to find you and send assets, and for you to do the same with them.


# Smart Money

At Kresus, we believe in giving you a headstart by providing key insights that help you make more informed decisions when investing. That’s why we offer **Smart Money Insights** directly in the app.

This feature is powered by advanced on-chain analytics that track the activity of the most profitable Base and Solana traders. We monitor thousands of wallets across decentralized exchanges (DEXs), identifying the top traders based on their consistent returns. By analyzing the buying and selling patterns of these traders, Kresus ensures that you're seeing live, accurate insights.&#x20;

While most crypto platforms charge for access to this kind of premium data, at Kresus, we provide it for free. You'll get direct insights on which tokens are being traded by the pros, all within the app, to help you make smarter, more informed investment decisions.

Many people start their crypto journey on exchanges like Coinbase because it feels familiar and secure. But to truly experience the full potential of crypto and decentralized finance, going on-chain is where it’s at. That’s why we’ve made the transition easier by integrating Coinbase directly into the Kresus wallet.

With this integration, you can effortlessly move your assets from your Coinbase exchange account into your Kresus wallet without the hassle of complex transactions. You get the best of both worlds, a wallet with the same security level as Coinbase and the freedom of being on-chain.

# Free Transactions

When you first get started with most wallets, you’ll need the network's native token to pay for transaction fees, which can be a hassle if you’re just diving into the space.&#x20;

At Kresus, we make things simpler by giving every new user 35 free transactions on Base adn Solana, so you can start exploring the network without worrying about gas fees.

We leverage smart wallet technology using ERC-4337 for account abstraction. This allows us to sponsor user network fees through a contract deployment method known as a "paymaster." With this, we can cover those initial fees, letting you focus on getting familiar with the crypto world, trading, and interacting with dApps.


# Mini Apps

With Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) functioning as mini apps inside the wallet, you can interact with dApps directly from within the Kresus wallet, without ever leaving the interface. This creates a seamless experience, letting you access the full power of on-chain applications right inside your wallet, similar to how you use any other app.

Nobody wants to open a buggy browser window inside a mobile wallet just to interact with an app. People expect the same user-friendly flow they get in non-crypto apps—going to a website, logging in, and interacting smoothly.

That’s the experience we aim to deliver with Kresus. More than just convenience, it’s also about security. By providing a curated list of dApps, we ensure that you're exploring the decentralized world in a safe environment, reducing the risk of shady applications compromising your funds. Our PWA approach limits the possibilities of phishing attacks and scams, giving you peace of mind as you navigate DeFi with guardrails in place.

# Recoverability

Recoverability is one of the most important aspects of any self-custody wallet. In the world of crypto, losing access to your wallet can mean losing access to your funds forever. That’s why having multiple, reliable methods of recovery is essential. At Kresus, we understand that things can go wrong, emails can be lost, phones can break, and we’ve built a robust system to ensure you never get locked out of your wallet.

To ensure top-tier security and accessibility, Kresus provides configurable security options for wallet recovery. You can find these settings in the security drawer at the bottom of the homepage or by clicking the shield icon on the top right of your wallet.&#x20;

Here's how it works:

* Email Recovery&#x20;

  Your email is the foundation of your Kresus wallet. It’s used for account creation and serves as the first line of defense when recovering and accessing your account. If you ever lose access to your phone, you can initiate a recovery on another device using your email address.
* Phone Number &#x20;

  In case you lose access to your email, we’ve got you covered. Your phone number acts as a second recovery mechanism, providing an additional layer of security and flexibility. This ensures that even if your primary recovery method fails, you won’t be locked out of your account.
* Advanced Biometrics&#x20;

  For even greater security, Kresus employs device-independent 3D facial recognition as part of our advanced verification process. This feature ensures that you can securely recover your account using advanced facial recognition, independent of the device you’re on. Unlike traditional biometrics tied to a single device, this method allows you to authenticate securely across multiple devices.


# Insurance

At Kresus, we're breaking new ground as the first self-custody wallet to offer integrated insurance for your assets. We understand that security is one of the biggest concerns for anyone moving their crypto on-chain, and that's why we've partnered with [**Breach Insurance**](https://www.breachinsured.com/) to provide comprehensive protection for your funds.

**Why Insurance?**

The decentralized nature of crypto offers unparalleled freedom, but it also brings risks like hacks, fraudulent links, and security breaches. Our goal with Kresus is to make on-chain experiences both user-friendly and secure. To help users feel more confident about managing their assets, we’ve integrated insurance directly into the wallet, ensuring that your funds are protected.

**How it works**

Our insurance covers up to $10,000 for Kresus Pro subscribers, shielding your assets from the unauthorized access, theft, or loss of your private keys due to unforeseen disasters such as fire or natural calamities. Below is a brief overview of how our insurance policy works, but for further details, you can find more in our [Terms and Conditions](https://kresus.com/terms-and-conditions/).

**Coverage Overview**

* Maximum Pro Limit: $10,000&#x20;
* Deduction per Wallet: $1,000&#x20;
* Pro Coverage Duration: Period of Pro subscription in good standing

**Requirements**

* 72 hour waiting period from wallet creation&#x20;
* Verified recovery phone&#x20;
* Advanced Verification enabled&#x20;
* Device biometrics enabled

**Advanced Biometrics Requirement:**\
For insurance coverage to remain valid, device biometrics must remain enabled. If disabled, insurance coverage is void, though users retain other benefits of their Pro subscription.

**Transaction Limits:**\
Pro users are allowed **350 free transactions** per calendar month. Certain complex blockchain transactions might use multiple free transactions from this total to complete a single action, such as swaps.

**What’s Covered**&#x20;

Kresus Insurance protects against:

* Unauthorized access to the Kresus Smart contract wallet (ERC-4337 standard).&#x20;
* Theft or loss of private keys or key shards due to natural disasters (earthquakes, storms, etc.).
* Direct asset loss due to theft or destruction of private keys from specific covered events.

# Free Transactions

As a Kresus Pro user, you receive up to 350 free transactions per calendar month. These free transactions cover a wide range of on-chain actions, allowing you to interact with dApps, swap tokens, and make transfers without worrying about gas fees. Some operations, like token swaps, may require multiple blockchain interactions, utilizing more than one of your allocated free transactions.

Our goal is to make your journey as smooth as possible by covering these fees, helping you get the most out of your on-chain activities.


# Inheritance (coming soon)

At Kresus, we know life is unpredictable. To ensure your assets are protected even in the event of something unfortunate, we’ve built an inheritance feature for Kresus Pro users. Whether you’re hit by the proverbial bus or simply unable to access your wallet, this feature guarantees your assets aren’t lost forever.

**How it works**

If you're a Kresus Pro user, you have the option to appoint a trustee, a person who will inherit your assets if something happens to you. After 120 days of inactivity, Kresus will begin the transfer process, moving all your wallet's assets to your designated trustee’s wallet.

But don’t worry about accidental transfers! As soon as we notice a period of inactivity, we start pinging you with notifications to make sure you’re just taking a break, and not completely offline. The closer we get to the 120-day mark, the more frequent our attempts to reach you become. This way, we ensure the process only moves forward if it’s truly necessary, providing peace of mind without the risk of losing access to your assets.

# Security

Kresus is designed to provide the highest level of security without the need for a seed phrase, which often presents a vulnerability for most users. Instead of relying on users to manage and secure their own seed phrases, the Kresus Smart Wallet uses a more secure, modern approach to private key management by utilizing ERC-4337 which removes the complexity of managing private keys and seed phrases, enhancing security with two-factor authentication and biometrics.

**Secure Key Management Without Seed Phrases**

At the heart of the Kresus wallet is the use of public-private key pairs to manage access to your assets. Unlike traditional wallets, where the user is required to keep track of a 12- or 24-word seed phrase, Kresus employs advanced cryptography to ensure your private keys are securely stored and managed.

When you create a Kresus account, a public-private key pair is generated. The public key identifies you on the blockchain, while the private key authorizes transactions. The private key, however, is never exposed directly to you, the user, making it impossible for attackers to steal or compromise.

#### HSM Technology

Kresus leverages Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for the highest level of key security. These HSMs are specialized, hardware-based systems designed to securely store and manage encryption keys. Your private key is encrypted and stored in these HSMs, which are locked down in such a way that the keys never leave the secure hardware. This is similar to how leading hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor work, but with the added convenience of cloud-based access.

Whenever you authenticate in the Kresus app, a secure token is generated, giving you temporary access to your private key stored in the HSM. This token is time-limited, ensuring that even if intercepted, it would be unusable after a short period.
